The clinical findings of appendicitis can vary depending upon the position of the appendix. Sometimes the appendix can be found behind the cecum (beginning of the large intestine or colon), it is termed as retrocecal appendix. The appendicitis of the retrocecal appendix is termed as Retrocaecal appendicitis. It is a type of appendicitis that presents with different clinical features when compared to classical appendicitis. The usual tenderness associated with appendicitis is normally not presented clearly in this case because the cecum masks the tenderness of the appendix.
